Rules and Guidelines


Please read the following rules and guidelines which have been created to ensure the smooth running of the event and to make it as enjoyable as possible for all concerned.

Participation is entirely at your own risk

  • To attend the skate you must be at least 18 years of age (unless accompanied by a responsible adult)
  • You must be able to stop, turn and have full control over your speed on skates (including on hills)
  • Be aware of those around you and skate with care and consideration for other skaters, cyclists and pedestrians
  • Take extra care when crossing roads or skating in or near traffic
  • When skating after dark, ensure that you are sufficiently visible by way of reflective clothing and/or lights

Skates that behave badly or ignore the rules will be asked to leave the skate.

It as advisable to wear protective equipment/clothing and to check that your skates are well maintained.

Guidelines for everyone's enjoyment

  • Always check behind you before changing direction
  • Keep together as a group and don't lag too far behind everyone else
  • Be prepared to stop and move suddenly
  • Skate sensibly through areas containing pedestrians, especially if it's dark
  • Respect the city and its other road / path users
  • Respect the volunteers that make this skate event possible
